The TriggerPoint Universal is a peanut-shaped EVA foam roller designed for soft tissue work on larger muscle groups and along the spinal column. The double-ball shape positions the two spheres on either side of the spine, allowing firm pressure on the paraspinal muscles without loading the vertebrae directly — making it more practical for thoracic and lumbar work than a single ball or standard cylindrical roller. The textured surface adds grip and increases tissue response during rolling. At 8 inches long and under a pound, it is compact enough for a gym bag. For climbers, it is useful for thoracic mobility work, posterior shoulder and lat release, glute and hip external rotator rolling, and general lower extremity recovery.

Description
How is this different from the smaller 5Billion peanut ball?
The TriggerPoint version is larger in diameter (8 inches vs 5 inches), which means it covers more surface area and is better suited for larger muscle groups like the glutes, hamstrings, and thoracic paraspinals. The smaller peanut ball allows more targeted, precise pressure on specific segments. Both are useful — the choice depends on the area being treated.
How is this used for thoracic mobility in climbers?
Position the roller horizontally across the mid-back with the two spheres flanking the spine. Support your head, engage your core lightly, and extend gently over the roller, holding each segment for 20 to 30 seconds before moving up or down one spinal level. This addresses the thoracic stiffness that limits overhead reach and shoulder mobility in climbing.
Will the foam break down with regular use?
The EVA foam construction is designed to maintain its shape and firmness with repeated use. It is also water-resistant and easy to wipe clean, making it practical for regular gym and clinic use.
